I can do all things through Christ, because He gives me strength.Philippians 4:13

This memorial website was created to remember our dearest Kendra Jennifer Elness who was born in United States Windom, MN on August 3, 2000 and passed away on October 20, 2001 at the age of 1. You will live forever in our memories and hearts.
Kendra was our miracle even before she was born.  After a routine ultrasound we found out that we had two babies.  Imagine our surprise and our disappointment at the same time when we found out that one of our babies was not alive.  Faith's little heart had stopped beating and Kendra had many obstacles to face.  After many tests, we learned that Kendra may not survive.  Her brain did not form all of the way and we were faced with a tough decision.  After much prayer, we made the ultimate decision for life and decided that we would put Kendra into God's hands.

God must have decided that she needed to teach us some things because He let us have her for more than we ever expected.  After she was born we found out that her condition was called Alobar Holoprosencephally.  Kendra was such a strong little girl for having so many strikes against her.   After only a 3-4 week stay at the hospital when she was born, we took her home with us.  Her big brother, Clay, was so excited.  We were all excited too, but terrified at what the future would hold.  Kendra had constant seizures, apnea, had a hard time eating.  She scared us many, many times with her breathing.  Thank God for the Hospice nurses and our doctor and his staff.  They got us through all of the medical worries.  Even with all of the medical problems she did have, she was a joy to have around.  I could hold her for hours, she would melt right into my arms.  She loved to lay in the rocking chair with her head against the arm.  She seemed to always be happy there.  When she was feeling good, she had the chubbiest little hands.  We loved to play pat a cake with her or just hold her hands.  Her eyes were gorgeous.  They were the color of the bright blue sky and they would twinkle.  She had the longest eye lashes that could touch the moon.

We loved Kendra so much and miss her constantly.  We know that she is watching over us and we can feel her close to us.  She is our little angel.  She is and always will be our girlie  pearly, our Kendra Bug.  We will love you forever, Kendra.  Kendra died in my arms surrounded by her family, friends, nurses and pastor on Oct. 20, 2001, she was 14months old.

Now after 6 years of living without her, there are still those days that I see or hear something that will remind me of her.  She is still a big part of our lives.  We remember her in many ways throughout the year.  Please share your memories of her.  Forever in our heart, forever 1.

In loving memory of Faith Elness, twin sister to Kendra.  Forever in our hearts.  Since Kendra died we have had two other children, Chance and Camryn, along with her big brother, Clay.  I am always reminded of Kendra when I look into their big blue eyes.  They love her and always talk about their big sister.  She would have loved them.

Right now I'm in a different place,
    And though we seem apart,
I'm closer than I ever was...
    I'm there inside your heart.
I'm with you when you greet each day
And while the sun shines bright,
I'm there to share the sunsets, too...
    I'm with you every night.
I'm with you when the times are good,
To share a laugh or two,
And if a tear should start to fall...
I'll still be there for you.
 And when that day arrives
That we no longer are apart,
I'll smile and hold you close to me...
    Forever in my heart.
